Specifying High Quality in an Aluminum Fixed Ladder Design

RUNG REVIEW:  As another example, let’s move onto the rung design.  The light-weight ladder rung depicted above on the left is half the size and weight of the Ascend rung design shown on the right.  The Ascend rung is a 1.5” diameter proprietary extrusion rung design, with a non-slip surface per OSHA requirements.  The same question remains.  If you are specifying or purchasing a fixed ladder, do you want a light rung design or a heavier rung design that is also larger in diameter?  In climbing any OSHA approved safety ladder with or without a cage, the preferred rung size is 1.5” diameter.
